Art Classes

Drawing/Painting/3D with Ms. Fine

Grades 3-5

Day/Time - Tuesdays, 3:15-5:00*

Art Adventures with Ms. Murfee

Explore the art of Ancient Greece and Rome through engaging and incredibly unique projects for kids that will add some sparkle and much excitement to this period in art history! Social studies and math connections along with concepts that get students to use higher order thinking skills are big parts of this class. Techniques range from making marbled paper, paper collage, form-based projects (clay & paper) and working with tissue paper to drawings on paper with simple materials like markers and colored pencils.

Grades 3- 5

Ceramics/Drawing/Painting with Ms. Fine

Age 13 and up

Day/Time - Thursdays, 3:00-5:00*

Group Piano Class - First Grade and Up - Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays

The Group Piano Class offers a traditional piano lesson where students are placed according to their ability in a class of two to five students…each using their own digital piano. Students who enroll in this class must be able to read. The focus of the class is on enjoying music and learning the basics – notes, rests, tempos and dynamics. Christmas and spring recitals are a highlight of the class.

The Group Piano Class has a fall and a spring session. There are no group piano classes offered in the summer.

Suzuki Group/Theory Class - Violin and Viola

Suzuki group classes reinforce concepts and repertoire introduced in private lessons. Depending on the level of the group, it may include such things as pre-Twinkle songs, instrumental position games, review of Suzuki repertoire in an ensemble setting, note-reading on the student's instrument, or playing Suzuki and supplemental repertoire in multiple parts.

Suzuki group classes are only offered to students enrolled in Suzuki private instruction. All Suzuki students must enroll in group class for the duration of the school year. Please consult with your private teacher regarding placement.

45-minute classes - $15 per class

60-minute classes - $20 per class

75-minute classes - $25 per class

POP Players - Children's Theater

Is your child overly dramatic or a shower singer? Then POP PLAYERS is the class for them! POP Players

Children's Theater focuses on building confidence through singing, dancing, and acting. Our classes

culminate in a musical theater production. Come join our creative adventure this semester as we journey

Grades K-2 - "ARE WE THERE YET?"

Let's go to Egypt and follow Moses, Miriam, and the Israelites as they wander to the Promised Land!

Grades 3-5 - "CHRISTMAS IN EGYPT"

We're heading "south" to Egypt with Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus as they meet new neighbors and even the Pharoah of Egypt himself!

Day/Time - Tuesdays, 3:00-5:00

Class begins Tuesday, August 20, 2019

Dress Rehearsal: Wednesday, December 4, 6:30-8:30 pm

Performance: Thursday, December 5, 8:30 am (during chapel) and 7:15 pm

Enrollment

Enrollment for the 2019-20 school year begins Wednesday, August 1. All new and returning students must enroll by completing the online enrollment form found by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page. The Arts School accepts new enrollments year round.

A non-refundable registration fee of $50 will be due at the beginning of the semester. Please see enrollment form regarding payment options.

Please note that The Arts School instructors will not collect enrollments or payments of any kind.

Payment Policy

Group classes at The Arts School follow a predetermined schedule. Because of the nature of the group class setting, The Arts School will not be able to reimburse for missed classes, and make-up classes will not be available. In the event that the instructor of the class is not available or the class is canceled due to inclement weather, the class will be made up.

The Arts School Year

The school year at The Arts School is divided into two main sessions, one in the fall and one in the spring. The Arts School also offers lessons in an abbreviated summer session. The 2019-20 school year begins on August 19 and runs through May 21, 2020. Summer lessons will be offered from June1 - July 31, 2020.

Inclement Weather and School Closings

The Arts School follows the inclement weather policy of Prince of Peace Christian School. Please listen to local radio and TV broadcasts for up-to-date information concerning school closings. If the campus remains open and available on a day when lessons have been cancelled, special arrangements may be made on an individual basis between the student and the instructor to have a lesson. When inclement weather does develop, The Arts School reserves the right to cancel lessons for the remainder of the day.
